Civil Service Agency Discovers Extensive Duplication of about 17 Positions…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Civil Service Agency (CSA) has disclosed the discovery of an extensive duplication of at least seventeen positions on the House of Representatives’ Administrative Payroll.

The CSA says the discovery followed a comprehensive analysis conducted by the entity in adherence to the National Elimination Standardization Act, passed into law by former President George Weah in 2019.

CSA Director General, Josiah Joekai, told MICAT Press Briefing Thursday, January 23, 2025, that the duplication of the administrative positions has increased the number of personnel on the House’s supplementary payroll to more than two hundred.

Mr. Joekai said:” The situation is affecting the Government of Liberia, making it lose a little over one million annually.”

He named the duplicated positions as Research Officers, Office assistants, and Protocol Officers, amongst others, thus violating the principles of Accountability and Transparency.

Meanwhile, Mr. Joekai has disclosed that the entity has formally requested the Comptroller and Accountant General of Liberia to mandate all commercial Banks to immediately terminate the processing of supplementary requests from any government entity.
