Millennium Challenge Corporation Commits to Work with Liberia

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) has pledged its commitment to work along with Liberia in the implementation of the five hundred million US dollar Second Compact Grant.

MCC Managing Director for Africa, Jason Small, said:” The entity will begin recruiting staff with the subsequent establishment of the MCC Office in Liberia, to jumpstart the implementation of the grant.”

Speaking on Monday, January 20, 2025, during a courtesy visit to the Finance Ministry, Mr. Small praised the Liberian Government for the progress made in pursuing economic and democratic reforms.

Also speaking, US Ambassador to Liberia Mark Toner described the MCC Second Compact Grant as a win for Liberia.

Ambassador Toner urged the Government and people of Liberia to continue leveraging opportunities for the growth and development of the country.

Meanwhile, Finance Minister Augustine Ngafuan has called on Liberians to unite in the face of diversity to move the country forward.

Minister Ngafuan said:” The development of Liberia transcends political and social divisions for the greater good of all.”

He extolled both current and past governments, including technicians for their significant contributions to securing Liberia’s partnership with the MCC.

The finance minister reaffirmed Liberia’s commitment to working closely with the MCC to ensure the entity’s Second Compact Grant brings long-term benefits to the country.
