Gov. of Liberia Expresses Sadness over Former US President’s Death

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Government of Liberia has expressed sadness over the death of former US President Jimmy Carter.

Jimmy Carter, who died at age 100, served as the 39th President of the United States of America.

President Joseph Boakai, on behalf of the government and people of Liberia, conveyed deepest sympathies to the Carter family, and the people of the United States.

The Liberian Leader, in an Executive Mansion release, recounted Mr. Carter’s contributions to advancing global peace, human rights, democracy, and humanitarian works.

President Boakai, in the release, urged Liberians to join in solidarity with the American people, honoring the memory of a leader whose life was dedicated to the service of humanity.

At the same time, Liberians have joined millions around the world in sending tributes to the late Jimmy Carter whose death was announced on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at his home in Plains, Georgia.

His organization, the Carter Center, has invested millions in human rights, justice, and mental health, among others, in Liberia.

A former Country Director of the Carter Center in Liberia, Pewee Flomoku, told ELBC on Monday, December 30, 2024, that the late US President will be remembered for touching millions of lives across the world.

Mr. Flomoku said:” President Jimmy Carter showed special interest in Liberia, after his visit in 1978.”

Mr. Pewee Flomoku extended condolences to the Carter Center Liberia Office adding that the institution is a legacy that will forever have an imprint on Liberia.
