US Embassy near Monrovia Monitors Current Impasse at House of Rep., Calls for Calm

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The United States Embassy near Monrovia says it is carefully monitoring the current political impasse at the House of Representatives on Capitol Hill.

In a release issued recently, the US Embassy called on both parties involved in the stalemate to respect the rule of law and maintain the peace Liberia enjoys.

The release is quoted as saying Liberians expect their leaders to uphold democracy and its practices, for open and transparent political processes and peaceful debate.

It urged members of the House of Representatives to denounce all forms of violence and resolve the current impasse, to do the work of the National Legislature.

The US Embassy says no matter the political differences, it is always important to find common ground for the betterment of the state and its people.
