Pres. Boakai Describes Late Senator Johnson as a Patriot…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai has described the late Nimba County Senator, Prince Johnson, as a patriot and a dedicated public servant.

President Boakai said:” The late Senator was a respected figure whose contributions to societal growth and development will be remembered.”

The Liberian Leader made the remarks on Friday, November 29,2024, when he paid a condolence visit at the residence of the late Nimba County Lawmaker in Paynesville.

President Boakai also emphasized the need for unity and peaceful co-existence among the citizens of the county, as he reflected on their shared experiences during his tenure as Vice President and President of the Liberian Senate.

The Liberian Chief Executive, on behalf of the Liberian Government, conveyed deepest sympathies to the citizens of Nimba County and the family members of the deceased during this difficult period.

Health Authorities at the Hope for Women Hospital in Paynesville City confirmed the death of Senator Prince Johnson in the early morning hours on Thursday, November 28,2024.

Senator Johnson died at age 75, following a brief illness.

His death came as a shock following his recent activities in Nimba County and the Liberian Senate.

Senator Johnson was a fierce political figure having been elected thrice to the Liberian Senate.

Meanwhile, the Government of Liberia has described Senator Johnson’s death as a great loss to the nation and people of Nimba County.

President Joseph Boakai, on behalf of the Government, said:” The fallen statesman contributed immensely to national discourse through his service as a senator, public servant, and educator.

In an Executive Mansion release issued on Thursday, November 28,2024, President Boakai conveyed deepest condolences to the Johnson family and the people of Nimba County for this irreparable loss.

The release quotes President Boakai as calling on all Liberians to respect this moment of mourning, and to keep the family of the late Senator and loved ones in their prayers during this period of bereavement.

The Liberian Senate also sent a message of condolence to the bereaved family of the fallen statesman.

A Senate release issued on Thursday, November 28,2024, quotes its leadership as describing the Senator’s loss as a blow and irreparable loss to the Liberian Senate and the country at large.

He was the longest serving Senator, serving as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Defense and Security, and as well as member of the ECOWAS Parliament.

Meanwhile, the Liberian Senate in its mournful remembrance of the fallen Senator, has suspended its Thursday, November 28, 2024, Plenary sitting to Tuesday, next week.

Meanwhile, Vice President Jeremiah Koung is encouraging citizens of Nimba County to remain focused and united in moving the county forward.

VP Koung said:” Citizens must begin to prioritize the development of the county over self greed and individual differences.

The VP also hailed the late Senator for unifying the people of Nimba County and championing change through his robust advocacy and engagements.

Vice President Jeremiah Koung, however, cautioned them to refrain from reacting to denigrating posts made about the late Lawmaker on the social media during this period.
