ECOWAS Visiting Delegation Holds consultation…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-An ECOWAS Delegation visiting Liberia has concluded a consultative meeting with the leadership of the Liberian Senate.

The Delegation is in the country to mediate in the leadership crisis at the House of Representatives.

The Head of the Delegation and Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament, Memounatu Ibrahima, said:” Our presence in Liberia is predicated upon a mandate from the ECOWAS Parliament and Commission, and we are seeking clarity about the conflict and engaging in mediation between the two groups for an amicable solution.”

Remarking, Senate Pro-Tempore Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence welcomed the Delegation and expressed gratitude to the ECOWAS for its intervention into the matter.

Senator Lawrence said:” Though the National Legislature is b-camera with separate rules, what affects the House of Representatives also affects the Liberian Senate, and as such, there is a need for peace resolution.”
