Aggrieved Nat’l Elections Commission Workers Want Bosses Immediate Suspension…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Aggrieved workers of the National Elections Commission (NEC) are calling for the immediate suspension of the Chairperson, Executive Director, and others implicated in financial mismanagement, pending an audit of the Commission.

The employees also appealed to President Joseph Boakai for his intervention to ensure the payment of the overdue hazard allowances and annual insurance benefits that have been denied to staff during the 2023 electoral cycle.

The aggrieved workforce petitioned President Boakai, and requested for relief funds from the Government to address pressing administrative costs, which include concerns about fuel, unsanitary condition at the NEC Headquarters, and the maintenance of service vehicles.

Reading the statement on behalf of the workers, the Director for Civil and Voter Education of the Commission, Deddeh Pusah, said:” The collective actions of the employees underscore the pressing need for transparency, accountability, and improved condition at the NEC.”

Receiving the petition on behalf of President Boakai, the Legal Advisor to the President, Bushuben Keita, thanked the aggrieved workers for the level of patience, and assured employees of the National Elections Commission that the Executive will properly review the petition and intervene where necessary.
