Liberia Hosts 16th African Women Network Inter-Generational Retreat…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberia is hosting the Sixteenth African Women Network (AWLN)-Inter-Generational Retreat intended to strengthen women’s leadership in Africa’s transformation.

During the three-day retreat at the Farmington Hotel, women from across the continent will discuss the components as enshrined in the AU-agenda 2063 and the global agenda of 2030 as a means of strategies that enhance advanced women’s leadership.

The retreat is aimed at promoting women’s leadership, gender equality, and empowerment through co-leadership, mentorship and advocating for the full implementation of the Beijing+30 commitments.

The Minister of Gender, Gbemie Horace-Kollie re-echoed President Joseph Boakai’s commitment to promoting women agenda and creating an environment for all women to pursue their dreams.

The 1995 Beijing Declaration set forth ambitious vision for gender equality, embodying a global commitment to empower, especially young women in all spheres of life.

On behalf of President Boakai, at the start of the retreat, the Gender Minister re-committed the Government’s unwavering dedication to gender equality.

Minister Kollie said:” President Boakai has demonstrated his unwavering commitment to gender equality by appointing more women in Government, many of them young.”

The Gender Minister said the empowering young women leaders serve as a major building block for resilient and productive societies.

According to her, when young women are equipped with the requisite tools, mentorship, and the opportunity to lead, they drive progress across all sectors.
