Gov.’s Lawyer Files 10-Count Petition to Criminal Court ‘C’, Calls for Arrest of Fmr. Finance Minister Tweah

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Prosecuting Lawyer, Cllr. Richard Scott has filed a ten-count petition to Criminal Court “C”, calling for the arrest and incarceration of former Finance Minister Samuel Tweah.

It can be recalled that in September this year, Mr. Tweah surrendered himself to Criminal Court “C”, along with his legal team, securing an eight million US Dollar Property Bond.

The former Finance Minister and four other former Government officials were recently indicted by the Court for stealing six million US Dollars from the Government of Liberia.

Presenting the petition on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, to Criminal Court “C” Judge Blamo Dixon, Cllr. Scott said:” The eight million US Dollar Bond secured by the former Finance Minister is unreliable.”

Cllr. Scott alleged that among the two properties used as bonds by defendant Tweah’s legal team, one of them is not in the system of the Liberia Revenue Authority, while the other has a liability of over twenty-three thousand US Dollars,  and as such it cannot be used as surety bond under the Liberian Laws.
