Gender Minister Kollie Says Street Children Crisis Is Attributed to Multi-Dimensional Poverty…..

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Gender Minister Gbeme Horace Kollie says the survey conducted by the Government of Liberia, in collaboration with partners, attributed the crisis of the street children to multi-dimensional poverty, persistent non-support, and domestic trafficking, among others.

Minister Kollie however said the Gender Ministry has designed a five-year project to reduce the number of children in the streets.

She noted the first phase of the project, will focus on Montserrado County aimed at removing more than seven thousand children from the streets.

The project further seeks to empower mothers and caregivers through small businesses and agriculture activities.

Minister Kollie spoke Wednesday during the official launch of the “Support A Child, Secure the Future Project, at the Ministerial Complex in Congo town.
