Financial Intelligence Agency Submits 2024/2028 Draft Nat’l Budget…..

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Financial Intelligence Agency (FIA) has submitted the 2024-2028 Draft National Action Plan to the Country’s Inter-Ministerial Steering Committee.

The plan unveils mitigating measures to address deficiencies earmarked by GIABA in Liberia’s second round of mutual evaluation report and strengthen the country’s ability to combat money laundry and other predicate offenses.

According to an FIA release issued recently, the submission of the Plan took place during the Inter-Ministerial Committee’s second meeting for 2024.

Speaking at the meeting, the Chairperson of the Committee, Justice Minister Oswald Tweh, recalled Liberia’s readiness to prioritize preventive measures that address deficiencies identified in all anti-money laundry sectors of the country.

Cllr. Tweh said:” The move is geared toward improving stringent technical and effectiveness regulatory compliance.”

Cllr. Oswald Tweh noted that to enhance domestic cooperation in Liberia, the Committee has solicited the professional contributions of competent authorities and reporting entities in the banking, insurance, and other sectors to develop actionable measures against money laundering and other predicate offenses.
