Liberian Gov. Says Constant Threats of Protest Undermine Investment Prospects…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Government of Liberia says the constant threat of protest from the opposition Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) has the propensity to scare away investors and undermine the country’s peace.

Information Minister Jerolinmek Piah said:” The CDC held over three hundred protests only for political power during the twelve-year regime of the Unity Party.”

Minister Piah clarified that the UP did not organize any protests during the six-year CDC regime, emphasizing that the government would not tolerate any anti-democratic agitation against it.

Addressing a MICAT Press Conference on Thursday, August 8, 2024, the Government Chief Spokesman called on the Executive Protection Service (EPS) Agents and other Government workers who feel illegally dismissed to seek legal remedy as opposed to acts of lawlessness.

Minister Piah also reaffirmed the Government’s position to implement the reports from the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission and the General Auditing Commission.
