Gov. of Liberia, China Aid to Break ground for Construction of $5.5 (M) Million USD TV and Radio Expansion Project

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The official groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the much anticipated 5.5 million China Aid television and radio expansion project at the Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS) is expected to take place in the coming.

The disclosure was made on Thursday, August 8, 2024, by the LBS Director General, Eugene Fahngon, at the official launch of the Youth Media Action Cohort-5 vacation journalism program in Paynesville City.

Director Fahngon told the gathering that the modern complex will be equipped with modern broadcast equipment to enhance the work of the State Broadcaster.

According to the LBS Director General, President Joseph Boakai will perform the groundbreaking ceremony at the System’s Compound on Friday, August 16, 2024.

Director Fahngon noted that the current management team is preparing the State Broadcaster for a new generation to take over.

At the same time, the LBS Director General is urging emerging and aspiring journalists to venture into more reading and research.

Director Fahngon said:” Doping so will equip them and make them more valuable in the broadcasting industry of the Country.”

Director Fahngon admonished the students to be serious as they undergo intense training by the Youth Media Action (YMA), and assured that the LBS facility remains open to developing and showcasing the potentials of young people.

In remarks, the Executive Director of the YMA, Varmah Kamara, thanked the LBS for the growing partnership.

Mr. Kamara also assured Director General Fahngon that the YMA will work with the LBS to ensure that the capabilities of young people are built in Journalism and other professional fields.

He also welcomed the decision by the LBS’s Management to grant permission to competent participants of the YMA ongoing training to anchor news via the television.

The students are being trained in Journalism and Public Speaking, among others. The training is expected to last for three weeks.
