Gov. of Liberia, African Dev. Bank Sign $10(M) Million USD…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberian Government and the African Development Bank (AfDB) have signed a ten million US Dollar grant to enhance Smallholder Agriculture Development in Liberia.

The grant is a part of additional financing to the Global Agriculture and Food Security Program in the Country.

Acting Finance Minister Anthony Myers signed on behalf of the Government of Liberia, while the AfDB Country Manager, Benedict Kanu, signed for the Bank.

The project is aimed at boosting food and nutrition security while reducing poverty among the targeted rural population.

A release quotes Mr. Kanu as saying the provision of additional grants is aligned with the objectives of the National Agriculture Development Plan 2024-2030.

Of the total cost of 19.8 million for the project, the Global Agriculture and Food Security Program will contribute 18.2 million, while the Bank and the Liberian Government will contribute 429,027 and 453,000, respectively.
