Pres. Boakai Commissions Officials of the Office of Ombudsman, Considers it Substantial

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai has described the appointment of the Ombudsman as a significant step to strengthening Liberia’s democracy and the rule of law.

President Boakai said the Ombudsman is also expected to ensure that public officials are held in ethical standards and accountable for their actions.

According to the President, the office, despite the enormous challenges hampering its effectiveness, should also promote good governance and fairness in the resolution of disputes.

The Liberian Chief Executive made the assertions when he commissioned additional officials of the Government of Liberia in Monrovia.

Meanwhile, the commissioned officials have pledged to execute their duties and functions of the Office of the Ombudsman.

According to the Chairman of the Office, Cllr. Finley Karnga, his leadership will be guided by the principles and laws of Liberia.

Cllr. Karnga called for collaborative efforts from line ministries and agencies in the full execution of the Code of Conduct.

The Chairman of the Office of the Ombudsman then lauded President Joseph Boakai for the confidence reposed in the team to ensure that Liberians abide by the rules of the code of conduct.

Cllr. Finley Karnga spoke on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at the commissioning program of the officials of the Office of Ombudsman in Monrovia.
