Paynesville City Corp. Begins Enforcement of “No Selling, Parking at ELWA Junction Roundabout Regulation”

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Paynesville City Corporation (PCC) has officially commenced the enforcement of its “No Selling and Parking at the ELWA Junction Roundabout regulation”.

The exercise began with the demolition of several makeshift structures along the main streets of Paynesville City, especially at the ELWA Junction Roundabout.

Speaking with ELBC on Monday, July 1, 2024, the PCC Police Director, Melvin Tolbert, described the state of the exercise as successful.

Director Tolbert assured that the PCC will remain vigorous in ensuring the sustenance and ordinance of the Paynesville City Ordinance.

Director Melvin Tolbert said:” The PCC has already identified a site for petty traders to relocate, and the ongoing exercise will be extended to the Red Light Market. We are currently working along with the Joint Security to ensure that some marketers at the Red Light are relocated, and by doing so will give the City a good facelift.”

The PCC Police Director also warned that any officer of the Corporation caught compromising the ongoing exercise will face the full force of the law.

At the same time, the President of the Liberia Business Association (LIBA), James Strother, has expressed serious concern over the ongoing PCC enforcement exercise.

Mr. Strother called for a holistic enforcement approach involving key stakeholders, including the LIBA, the Umbrella organization for businesses. He spoke with the ELBC on Monday, July 1, 2024, in Paynesville City, at the start of the PCC exercise.

Mr. James Strother said:” The Business Association is doing an official communication to the Commerce Ministry and the Paynesville City Corporation for possible redress.”
