Female Law Enforcement Asso., Partners Call for Actions to Address Gender Issues…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberia Female Law Enforcement Association (LIFLEA), in collaboration with the Gender and Security National Taskforce (GSSNT), is calling for deliberate actions to address issues affecting women in the Security Sector.

Presenting a communiqué to the House of Representatives on Thursday, June 20, 2024, Deputy Police Commissioner, Bendu Weah-Goll, said:” The gender disparity, intimidation, and low recruitment, amongst others, continue to remain a barrier to female law enforcers.”

Madam Weah-Goll believes the equal participation of women in managerial positions not only supports the thirty percent women equality but is critical to achieving sustainable development.

The Association wants the Government of Liberia, relevant stakeholders, and partners to ensure the protection of the rights and interests of female security and law enforcement officers are prioritized.

At the same time, the National Coordinator of LIFLEA, Cllr. Asatu Bah-Kenneth, said:” The Association has made significant progress in empowering female law enforcers in Liberia, empowering more than four hundred female officers in all security sectors across ten of Liberia’s fifteen counties.”

Cllr. Bah-Kenneth, however, decried challenges that female law enforcers amid their contributions to public service.

The National Coordinator asserted on Thursday, June 20, 2024, in Sinkor at the annual public forum of the Liberia Female Enforcement Association.
