LIBNIC Oil Palm Inc. Vows to Implement Development Agreement in Grand Bassa County

GRAND BASSA COUNTY, LIBERIA- The management of LIBINC Oil Palm Incorporated in District-4, Grand Bassa County, has vowed to fully implement its development agreement to improve the livelihood of citizens of the County.

The Director General of the LIBNIC Oil Palm Incorporated, Sashi Nambiar, said:” The Company’s commitment will focus on the annual provision of community development funds to affected communities in the District.”

Mr. Nambiar made the commitment over the weekend in District 4 when he presented a symbolic cheque to affected communities on behalf of the company.

The LIBNIC Boss believes that the move will further strengthen the existing partnership between the Company and affected community dwellers in the District.

Mr. Sashi Nambiar also called on the people of Grand Bassa County, especially District-4, to embrace the Company for the common good of the affected communities and the County at large.

At the same time, the Director General of the Bureau of Concession (NBC), Attorney Edwin Dennis, has urged citizens and residents of Grand Bassa County to be law-abiding.

Atty. Dennis wants Liberians in concession areas to use dialogue to seek redress to their grievances as opposed to violence.

The NBC Boss assured residents of Grand Bassa County District-4 of the Government of Liberia’s commitment to ensuring that concession companies live up to their development agreements.

Atty. Dennis, however, disclosed that the Government, through the NBC, has since commissioned Multi Stakeholders Platform in the District to address grievances that would arise between the Company and affected communities.

Meanwhile, Grand Bassa County District-5 Representative, Thomas Goshua, vowed to work along with the Management of LIBNIC Oil Palm Incorporated and affected communities.

Representative Goshua also disclosed a plan to embark on a robust citizen engagement to underscore the crucial role of the company in the development strategy of Grand Bassa County.

Representative Goshua also thanked the Management of the Company for the move, while calling on residents of the County to join efforts in protecting the Company’s properties.

However, the Grand Bassa County Lawmaker disclosed ongoing discussions with the Management of the LIBNIC Oil Palm Incorporated and the Liberia Agriculture Company (LAC) to rehabilitate major roads in the District.
