Labor Ministry Intervenes in Major Protest Staged By Aggrieved Mano Oil Palm Company Workers

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Labor Ministry says it has averted a major protest staged by aggrieved workers of Mano Oil Palm Company in Bomi and Grand Cape Mount Counties.

Aggrieved workers of the Company blocked the entries into the plantations early this week in demand of benefits reportedly owed them.

A recent release quotes Labor Minister, Cllr. Cooper Kruah as saying the Ministry swiftly dispatched a crisis intervention team to resolve the situation.

The Ministry’s Negotiation Team, headed by Deputy Labor Minister, Steven Kolubah, held separate meetings with both the workers and Management of Mano Oil Palm Company.

According to the release, the workers have partially agreed to allow workers of the processing mills and other contractors who were not part of the protest to resume work immediately.

Meanwhile, the Labor Ministry has cited the workers’ leadership and Management of Mano Oil Palm Company to further discussions on Thursday, May 9, 2024, to resolve the stalemate.
