Pres. Boakai Signs Executive Order 131…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai has signed Executive Order Number 131 on the establishment of War and Economic Crimes Court in Liberia.

Thursday’s signing comes after the National Legislature signed a joint resolution asking the Executive to begin processes leading to the establishment of the Court.

Speaking before signing the document at the Executive Mansion on Thursday, May 2, 2024, President Boakai said:” The move will consummate the process that will bring justice and closure to the scars and memories of the war.”

He said:” Following the silence of the guns, Liberians have endured downpours of agony from constant reminders about heinous crimes committed during the fourteen years of war.”

President Joseph Boakai believes that for peace and harmony to prevail, justice and healing must take place.
