Pres. Boakai Declares Today, Thursday, April 25, World Malaria Day

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai has declared Thursday April 25, as “World Malaria Day, to be observed throughout the Country as a Working holiday.

According to a foreign Ministry release, day will be held under global theme; “Health Equity, Gender and Human Rights”, and a national slogan, “Sleep under the net everywhere and every night”.

The release said government, cognizant of the significance of protecting and well-being of its citizens and foreign residents, has ratified the convention on the Right of the Child to good health and nutrition.

The Declaration also noted, in observance of the day, Liberia will join other global health partner in supporting all health program to achieve Universal Health Coverage.

The Liberian Leader has also requested the Health Ministry and relevant Agencies, as well as international organization concerned, to initiate and execute appropriate programs befitting the day.
