Senators Call for Executive Order 124 Suspension

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Grand Kru and Bong County Senators, Albert Chie and Johnny Kpehe are calling for the suspension of Executive Order 124 issued by former President George Weah.

In December 2023, the former President issued an Executive Order suspending the exportation of unprocessed natural rubber from Liberia.

Senators Chie and Kpehe, in a communication to the Plenary, said:” Due to the Moratorium, local rubber farmers are experiencing difficulty in selling and paying their workers, thus putting them out of business.”

They noted that the Executive Order does not only affect the over fifty thousand local farmers but also the Liberian economy.

Meanwhile, the communication has been forwarded to the Liberian Senate Committees on Agriculture, Fishery, and Judiciary to report within two weeks.
