Liberian Senate Mandates Committee…..

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Families of victims of the 2021 Niko Ivanka shipwreck in Marshall are expected to benefit from some financial settlement through the 2024 Fiscal Budget.

The Plenary of the Liberian Senate on Thursday, February 29, 2024, mandated its Committee on Ways, Means, Finance, and Budget to implement the mandate.

The Liberian Senate, in 2022, drafted a resolution to ensure that twenty thousand US Dollars be given to the families of each of the victims.

It can be recalled that seventeen persons died and several properties damaged in the shipwreck, while on their way to Harper, Maryland County, three years ago.
