Liberian Senate Confirms Several Presidential Nominees

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberian Senate has confirmed several presidential nominees.

Those confirmed include Justice Minister Cllr. Oswald Tweh, Mines and Energy Minister Wilmot Paye, Information Minister Jerolimek Piah, and Daniel Sando, Information Minister for Technical Services.

Others are the Managing Director of the Water and Seward Corporation, Mohamed Ali, National Investment Commission Chairman, Jeff Blibo, Executive Director, of the National Investment Commission, Melvin Sheriff and Julius Dennis, Liber Civil Aviation Authority, among others.

Their confirmation followed reports from the Liberian Senate Committees on Judiciary, Mines and Energy, Broadcast and Information, and Public Corporations, among others.

The Committee’s reports state that the various nominees possessed the qualifications to occupy the positions.

Meanwhile, President Joseph Boakai has constituted the Board of Directors of the National Oil Company of Liberia (NOCAL).

The President appointed former Presidential Candidate Edward Appleton as Chairman of the Board of Directors and named Malcolm King, Kpannah Esther Alan, Kpandeh Fayiah, and Lydia Sandimane-Nimely.

Others are Finance Minister Boima Kamara and Mines and Energy Minister Wilmot Paye, as Statutory Members of the NOCAL Board of Directors.

The Executive Mansion said the nominations are subject to confirmation, where applicable.

Meanwhile, President Boakai has further called on those nominated to continue to demonstrate diligence, integrity, and loyalty in service to the Country.
