Rift Ensues between Justice Ministry Human Resource Director and Acting County Attorney of Montserrado

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Rift has reportedly ensued between the Director of Human Resource at the Ministry of Justice, Irwin Nimely, and Acting County Attorney of Montserrado, Alhaji Swailho Sasay, over his reported refusal to quit the position.

In a communication to Cllr. Sasay, the Human Resource Director requested him to refrain from making presentations on behalf of the Justice Ministry.

In his letter dated February 8, 2024, Mr. Nimely Nimely also instructed Cllr. Sasay is to turn over all assets of the Government of Liberia to the Office of Human Resources until his re-appointment to the position of Acting County Attorney.

The communication followed reported complaints received from lawyers that Cllr. Sasay continues to make representations in court on behalf of the Liberian Government.

Mr. Nimely then reminded Cllr. Sasay that his position was deemed vacant since his inauguration.

However, Cllr. Sasay clarified that it has been a tradition or practice that various County Attorneys hold on to their posts pending the re-appointments of new County Attorneys.
