ECOWAS Condemns Armed Disturbances in Sierra Leone…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-ECOWAS has condemned the disturbances caused by armed men to undermine the peace and constitutional order in Sierra Leone.

The Regional Bloc said it is concerned about the orchestrated plot by certain individuals who have acquired arms with the sole aim of seeking state power by force.

In a statement issued recently by ECOWAS, it called for the arrest and subsequent prosecution of all participants in what it called an “illegal act.”

The West African regional body also reiterated its zero tolerance for unconstitutional change of government in the sub-region.

ECOWAS further underscored its commitment to supporting the Government and people of Sierra Leone to deepen democracy and good governance, consolidate peace and security, as well as fostering socio-economic development.
