Pres. George Weah and CDC Seek to Turn The Table In Lofa

Monrovia, Monday, September 25, 2023 – The ruling Coalition for Democratic Change is intensifying its political campaign in Northern Liberia, targeting vote-rich Lofa County.

The party’s Standard Bearer, President George Weah is today leading stalwarts, officials and supporters of the CDC on a four-day tour of the County.

The CDC is seeking to pull the numbers and win Lofa, in a move that is likely to overturn results it obtained there in 2017.

Lofa is the only County the ruling party did not win in 2017, largely due to a one-sided voting in favor of former Vice President Joseph Boakai.

The County, at the time voted the Unity Party’s Candidate Joseph Boakai overwhelmingly on traditional lines as an uncle from the Kissi Community.

But since then, the CDC has positioned key party officials across strategic districts, undertaking projects and other interventions aimed at winning the hearts of Lofa Citizens.

Third term Montserrado County District 5 Representative, Thomas Fallah is now running as the Party’s Representative Candidate in his native, Foya District.

Representative Fallah’s Campaign has gone beyond the borders of Foya, and looks to be leading the CDC’s charge for retention in Lofa County.

In addition, Monrovia City Mayor and CDC Secretary General, Jefferson Koijee has made some crucial interventions in the County and has since cemented the Party’s presence.

Their strength was tested when they rallied Citizens of the County and successfully won the Senatorial Seat last year against the Unity Party.

Cllr. Joseph Jallah won the seat with heavy support from the CDC against former Superintendent, Galakpai Kotimai of the Unity Party in what was then described as a final turn of the table ahead of 2023.

The party’s victory was widely celebrated, prompting optimism for another successful push come October 2023.

The tour in the next few days, by the President, is set to renew the resolve of the Lofa people who, officials within the CDC Hierarchy believe, have chosen development over tradition.
