Liberian Economist Blames Unity Party Gov. for Proliferation of Disadvantaged Youth…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-A Liberian Economist has blamed the Unity Party Government for the proliferation of disadvantaged in the country.

Dr. Lester Tenny said:” The current wave of abuse among young people would have been prevented had the past government properly managed resources provided by partners.”

Dr. Tenny believes the UP-led Government had a lofty international goodwill that should have been used to provide livelihood opportunities for those young people.

He, however, said abuse of such goodwill and mismanagement of programs such as the DDRR left thousands of people without a future.

Speaking on the ELBC Super Morning show on Monday, July 10, 2023, Dr. Lester Tenny said:” By UP’s failure to optimize international presence in twelve years of its rule, the party has self-destroyed its chances of regaining the Presidency in this year’s elections.”

Meanwhile, Dr.Tenny has lauded the Liberian Government for putting into place sound policies that are positively impacting the lives of Liberians.

He referenced the free tuition and WAEC fee payment which h he said has allowed parents to save a portion of their income for family investment.

Dr. Tenny said:” Lowering inflation to just over six percent has increased the purchasing power of citizens and also made goods and services stable.”

The governing Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) Official said those policy interventions will go a long way in keeping the economy in good shape and addressing the issue of poverty.
