Senate Pro-Tempore Chie Hails Elections Commission…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Senate Pro-Tempore, Albert Chie, has hailed the National Elections Commission (NEC) for the successful outcome of the Biometric Voter Registration exercise in all fifteen counties of Liberia.

Pro-Tempore Chie said:” Regardless of some initial irregularities that nearly marred the process, the NEC demonstrated resilience in the BVR exercise”.

He also thanked the Ministries of Finance, Justice, and the Liberia National Police (LNP) for helping to ensure a free and peaceful process.

The Senate Pro-Tempore then commanded the efforts of local and international partners for their enormous contributions towards the conduct of Liberia’s electoral process.

Meanwhile, Senator Chie is asking the Commission to create an additional period that would allow citizens who were unable to participate in the exercise to do so.

He further highlighted the importance of the role of the Liberian Senate in the upcoming elections, adding that the august body will endeavor to ensure the process is guided.

Senate Pro-Tempore Albert Chie was speaking on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, when addressed the twentieth sitting of the Liberian Senate.
