Pres. Weah Declares Sunday, May 14 Nat’l Unification Day

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President George Weah has declared Sunday, May 14 as National Holiday and is to be observed on Monday, as a National Holiday.

The Proclamation is in consonance with the 1960 Act, declaring May, the fourteenth of each year as National Unification Day, after realizing the benefits to be accrued from the Unification and Integration Policy.

According to a Foreign Ministry release issued recently, the Proclamation further directs that appropriate programs be organized to celebrate the day.

It further encourages Liberians to embrace the noble ideals enshrined in the Unification Act, to promote unity and peace.

The release said the Liberian Government is committed to adhering to the principles of justice, equality, fair play, and equal opportunities for all, as they commemorate the day
