Justice Yamie Denies Economic Freedom Fighters’ Petition Filed

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Presiding Justice in Chambers, Yamie Gbeisay, has denied a petition filed by Economic Freedom Fighters of Liberia (EFFL), against the Liberian Government.

The EFFL, in its petition, called for the nullification of Executive Order 117 issued by the Executive, claiming that it violates the Constitution of Liberia.

The EFFL also argued that the Executive Branch of Government cannot issue a presidential decree to undo a law enacted by the National Legislature.

But Justice Gbeisay ruled in favor of the Liberian Government, through the Justice Ministry, due to the merit of the petition filed by the EFFL.

Meanwhile, lawyers representing the Economic Freedom Fighters of Liberia took exception to Justice Gbeisay‘s decision and announced an appeal to the Full Bench of the Supreme Court of Liberia.
