Int’l Labor Org. Provides Start-up Capital to Fifty Vulnerable Liberians

BONG COUNTY, LIBERIA-The International Labor Organization (ILO) has presented startup capital to fifty vulnerable Liberians in Bong County, under the start and Improve Your Business (SIYB) project.

The beneficiaries of the project were trained on how to start and improve their businesses in Botota and Forquelleh, Bong County, respectively.

Speaking to participants during the training in Forquelleh, ILO Country Coordinator in Liberia, Salif Massally, said:” The setup capital is intended to help empower vulnerable members of the society.”

Mr. Massally said while it is important to provide them with the needed skills to run successful businesses, it is more important to give them the resources as empowerment to improve their businesses.

Each of the fifty participants received two-hundred US Dollars as startup capital.

According to Mr. Massally, the program is a joint project “Building Resilience of Youth, Women, and Vulnerable Groups at Social Protection Level in Liberia.
