Foreign Minister Kemayah Says Rallying Financial Resources for Dev. Remains a Challenge

Foreign Minister Dee-Maxwell Kemayah says mobilizing of financial resources for development remains a challenge for least developed countries (LDC).

According to him, this challenge also impacts LDC’s ability to implement their national development plans, agendas, as well as the potential to derail Doha Program of Action implementation.

Speaking over the weekend at the LDCs Heads of State Summit in Doha, Qatar, Minister Kemayah called for scaled-up official development assistance (ODA), to mobilize resources locally to complement the commitments of partners.

The Liberian Foreign Minister highlighted the proposed stimulus plan of the UN Secretary as essential to the growth of Least Developed Countries.

He also called for increased cooperation between and amongst southern countries and partners from developing countries to undertake projects and invest in priority areas, including building protective capacities of LDCs.
