Court Denies Defense Lawyers’ Request for Foreign Interpreters…..

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Defense Lawyers’ request for foreign interpreters, mainly in Portuguese and Arabic languages, has not materialized.

The lack of foreign interpreters has become a serious contention by Defense Lawyers at Criminal Court ‘C’, in the one-hundred-million United States Dollars Cocaine case.

The two interpreters are required to translate Portuguese and Arabic languages to English, as requested by Defense Lawyers.

Three foreign nationals and a Liberian were indicted by the Liberian Government for transporting one-hundred-million USD worth of drugs to Liberia.

According ELBC Judicial Reporter, the case resumes next Monday, as court authorities exert effort to hire foreign interpreters through diplomatic channels.
