Senate Cites Nat’l Elections Commission to Provide Update…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberian Senate has cited authorities of the National Elections Commission (NEC) to provide update on its ability and preparedness to conduct the pending elections.

It followed a communication from Grand Bassa County Senator Nyonblee Karngar-Lawrence on Tuesday, February 14, 2023.

Senator Lawrence noted that the 2023 elections are crucial to maintenance of peace and democratic governance.

She mentioned that there are visible indications that NEC is running against time on the conduct of the nationwide biometric registration exercise, and the need for its appearance to provide update cannot be overemphasized.

Meanwhile, Plenary has cited the Board of Commissioners of the National Elections Commission to appear before the Senate Committee on the whole of Tuesday, next week.
