MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Government of Liberia has taken cognizance of concerns coming from local and international quarters about the wearing of CDC T-shirts by some members of the Executive Protective Service (EPS).

Some EPS officers were pictured in the ruling Party T-shirts during CDC “One-Million-Man-Rally” for the nomination of President George Weah.

However, in a statement issued recently by MICAT on Monday, February 6, 2023, the Government said the concerns are legitimate, terming the officers’ behavior as embarrassing.

MICAT believes the action of the officers was due to over exuberance and lack of knowledge of the standard operating procedures of the service.

The release quotes Justice Minister Frank Musa Dean as mandating EPS Director, Trokon Roberts, to ensure such unprofessional behavior does not recur.

Meanwhile, the Government of Liberia has reiterated its commitment to conduct free, fair and transparent democratic elections in an environment that is secured and opened to all stakeholders and participants, regardless of political affiliation.

At the same time, the CDC has strongly condemned the use of Party regalia by agents of the EPS.

CDC National General Secretary, Jefferson Koijee, urged security officers to remain neutral by refraining from taking part in any political activities.

Notwithstanding, Mayor Koijee said:” The Party is calling for the consolidation of improved relationship with the media to enhance the Country’s democracy.”

He also pledged the Party’s commitment to free speech and protection of media practitioners in the discharge of duties.
