Pres. Weah Reacts to Senator Prince Johnson’s Threat…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President George Weah has sharply reacted to Nimba County Senator Prince Johnson’s threat to pull out of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC).

President Weah said:” My Government will not accept any manipulation or blackmail from Senator Johnson, as a means to support the CDC.”

The Liberian Leader noted that he will never offer a dime to the Nimba County Lawmaker, but rather use such money to better the lives of the Liberian people.

President Weah further frowned at claims by Senator Johnson that Government was harboring plans to assassinate him.

Speaking at the Forky Kloh Jlaleh Family Fellowship in Paynesville on Sunday, February 5, 2023, President Weah said Senator Johnson is not infallible and has the right to move in any political direction he wishes.

He reflected on some of the past Liberian Civil War actions by the Lawmaker, but noted that his Government has been striving to accommodate everyone.

He clarified that CDC is a conglomeration of political parties whose interest must be preserved.

The President was quick to tell Senator Prince Johnson that as leader of the Movement for Democracy and Reconstruction (MDR), he should take along with him his supporters to enable Government provide jobs accommodation for other CDC supporters.

At the same time, President Weah has extended invitation to those desirous of joining the governing CDC, ahead of the October 10 Presidential and Legislative Elections.

President Weah also welcomed some CDC partisans who once left the Party, adding that they have returned to the right place.

The Liberian Leader further described the CDC as a party that works, serves, achieves and succeeds in the body politic of Liberia.

President Weah also recognized and appreciated new auxiliaries, first-time voters for the enthusiasm to increase the CDC membership and strengthen its ability to take the Party’s message to the people.

He further congratulated the security apparatus, including military and Para-military, for the work done in maintaining peace and security throughout his tenure, without violating the human rights of citizens.
