Deliberations on 2023 Fiscal Budget Begins

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Joint Committee on Ways, Means and Finance has commenced official deliberations on the revenue component of the 2023 Fiscal Budget.

It followed recent submission of the Draft National Budget by the Executive to members of the National Legislature for deliberation and subsequent passage.

Speaking during the hearing recently, the Joint Committee Chair on Ways, Means and Finance, Thomas Fallah, called on his colleagues to scrutinize the budget in the interest of Liberia.

Representative Fallah said:” Priority should be placed on key areas of national interest that are geared towards raising the standards of living in the Country.”

During the first day of the hearing, the Liberia Revenue Authority, Ministry of Finance, and the National Port Authority took the stand on Capitol Hill.

At the same time, the Ministry of Finance has reiterated its commitment to ensuring fiscal prudence and sound Public Financial Management.

Deputy Finance Minister for Fiscal Affairs, Samora Wolokollie, said:” Such feat will continue to be achieved, using macro-economic and tax policy administration.”

Minister Wolokollie said over six-hundred-sixty-seven-million US Dollars has been projected through Domestic Resource Mobilization in 2023 Draft National Budget.

He said the total resource envelope for the Draft National Budget is over seven-hundred-seventy-seven million dollars.
