Pres. Weah submits Financing Agreement for Ratification…..

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President George Weah has reported to the House of Representatives, for ratification, a financing agreement between the International Development Association (IDA) and the Liberian Government.

Under the agreement, the IDA has agreed to extend to Liberia a grant and credit facilities of over thirteen-million United States Dollars and Special Drawing Right of twenty-million dollars.

The agreement is under the Liberia Women Empowerment Project, geared towards improving social and livelihood services for women and girls in targeted communities.

A communication from the President’s Office is quoted as urging the Legislature to ratify the agreement to strengthen Government’s capacity to transform women and girls across the Country.

Meanwhile, the President’s communication has been forwarded to the House Committee on Ways, Means, Finance, Judiciary and Gender, to report in two weeks.
