MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor has called on the National Legislature to commence immediate deliberation on the National Budget.

Madam Taylor said:” Timely discussion and passage of the National Budget will ensure fast-track of Government’s development programs.”

Madam Taylor urged the Legislature to pay keen attention to security, agriculture, health, education and the National Elections Commission during their deliberations.

She made the statement in the Chamber of the Senate during the opening of the Sixth Session on the 54th National Legislature on Monday.

The Vice President also wants the National Legislature prioritize financial support to County’s capitals, roads and economic empowerment to vulnerable groups.

Meanwhile, Senate Pro-Tempt Albert Chie has outlined the focus area of the Liberian Senate during the final session of the 54th National Legislature.

Pro-Tempt Chie named the 2023 National Budget, review of Liberia’s Maritime program and review of concession agreements and sites, among others.

He noted that the Senate will prioritize funding to the National Elections Commission, the security sector, electricity and agriculture, among others.

Senator Chie said:” The Liberian Government will invite its Economic Management Team to provide clarification about reported limited supply of Liberian Dollar Banknotes in the rural areas.”

According to him, the Foreign Ministry will also be given the chance to give an update on the status of Liberia’s Foreign Policy and engagements.
