Commission on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene reports 4% reduction in open defecation rate

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Commission on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene is reporting four-percent reduction in the rate of open defecation across the Country.

WASH Commission Chairman, Bobby Whitfield, told the Super Morning Show on Thursday, January 12, 2023, that open defecation was at forty-two percent prior to taking over as Chairman.

According to him, the number has reduced from forty-two to thirty-eight-percent, due to President George Weah’s immense interest in the WASH Sector.

Mr. Whitfield said:”With support from Government and partners, more public toilets have been built in vulnerable communities.”

The WASH Commission Boss also said to date access to safe drinking water has increased to seventy-six percent, a four percent increment since 2018.
