Presidential Candidates in upcoming Press Union of Liberia’s Elections debate…..

MONTSERRADO COUNTY, LIBERIA-The two Presidential candidates in the Press Union (PUL) upcoming elections, Julius Kanubah and Daniel Nyankonah, have presented their plans for the body.

Candidate Kanubah unveiled a thirty-one-point action plan for the transformation of the PUL.

He said:” The plan focuses on accountable leadership, construction of the PUL Headquarters, journalists’ health insurance, impactful decentralization of the PUL, reactivation of the collective bargaining agreement and media development.”

He further pledged to prioritize the interest of journalists outside of Monrovia, and also elaborate on policy that will engender on friendly cooperation between Government and the Media, while the media plays its advocacy role.

For his part, Candidate Nyankonah said:” I will build on my legacy by increasing advocacy and push for the improvement of journalists’ wages through social dialogue.”

Mr. Nyankonah also vowed to ensure the construction of the Headquarters of the PUL through resource mobilization strategy, while pledging to protect the rights of journalists at all times.

Candidates Julius Kanubah and Daniel Nyankonah spoke on Monday, October 31, 2022, at a debate organized by the Liberia Media for Democratic Initiative (LMDI), at the UL Fendell Campus, outside Monrovia.
