MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The House of Representatives has cited authorities of the National Elections Commission (NEC), the Public Procurement Concession Commission (PPCC) and the National Identification Registry to appear before it on Tuesday, November 1.

Plenary’s recent decision was triggered by a communication from Grand Bassa County District 5 Representative, Thomas Goshua.

Representative Goshua expressed concern about the growing controversies between the Election Commission and the PPCC over NEC’s alleged breach of the PPCC act in awarding the biometric contract to EKEMP.

The Grand Bassa County Lawmaker said:” Experts have stated that given the lack of network access in many rural communities, the biometric voting system may not work to achieve the objectives of democracy and accountability.”

He wants NEC to explain the possibility of holding the 2023 General and Presidential Elections, using the biometric system, as well as the selection of EKEMP.
