42 year-old man allegedly beaten for asking about his niece who escaped to be initiated in the Sande Society

MONTSERRADO COUNTY, LIBERIA-Traditional men have allegedly beaten a forty-two year old man for going to inquire about his niece who escaped to be in initiated into the Sande Society, in the Fifteen Gate Community in Rural Montserrado County.

According to ELBC Correspondent in the area, the victim, Jerbo Tokpa, upon his arrival at the traditional growth site, was arrested, flogged and compelled by the Ground Zoe to eat some of the food prepared at the initiation center.

Our Correspondent quoted the victim as saying he was tied to a rubber tree at one of Firestone’s rubber plantations but was rescued by a hunter who helped him to escape.

Meanwhile, the Grand Zoe of Fifteen Gate, Jacob Mulbah, has declined commenting on the allegation, resisted arrest by police and is on the run.
