MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The National Elections Commission (NEC) has clarified that National Identification Cards are integral part of the pending voter registration process.

NEC Chairperson Davidetta Brown Lansanah said:” The National IDs will be used, alongside other documents, to verify the citizenship of registrants.”

Madam Lansanah said the voter registration will take into consideration proof of citizenship, including Passports, nationalization documents and National ID Cards.

The NEC Boss clarification comes amid comments attributed to National Identification Registry Director General that the National ID will not be used for the elections.

However, Madam Browne-Lansanah told ELBC Wednesday, September 21, 2022, that National IDs issued by the NIR have been incorporated, as part of criteria for voter registration.
