General Auditing Commission trains auditors…..

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-A two-week Hands-On-Training for more than one-hundred auditors has ended in Monrovia.

The training, organized by the General Auditing Commission (GAC) was intended to improve the quality of audit reports, through the use of related audit working papers.

According to a recent release issued, Auditor General Garswa Jackson lauded the facilitators for impacting needed knowledge and skills in the auditors.

Mr. Jackson urged the participants to put into practice what they have learnt over the period, while reminding them that the quality of their audits contributes to efforts by Government to secure funding and expose corrupt activities in the public sector.

He also indicated that the essence of the training was to build competent standards in accounting for public resources.

The Auditor General said:” For those standards to be achieved, more training programs through Government’s budgetary support to the Commission are vital.”

He said the GAC will ensure adequate budget support for training in the next fiscal budget, adding that the quality of audit reports is being appreciated by partners.

Meanwhile, the main facilitator of the training and Head of Quality Assurance at the GAC, Raphael Quaye, said the training was conducted in consonance with the Commission’s Five-Year Strategic Plan, which calls for increase in Audit Coverage.
