Foreign Minister Kemayah calls for opening of Japanese Embassy in Monrovia

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Foreign Minister Dee-Maxwell Kemayah has called on the Government of Japan to reopen its Embassy in Monrovia.

Minister Kemah also wants the establishment of the Japan-Liberia Joint Commission and the granting of visa waivers for citizens and officials of both countries.

The calls were contained in a bilateral note to his Japanese Counterpart, Hayashi Yoshimasa, on the sideline of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD-8) in Tunis, Tunisia.

Ambassador Kemayah assured that Liberia will continue to cooperate with Japan on global, multilateral and bilateral issues of shared values and principles.

For his part, Japan Foreign Minister, Hayashi Yoshimasa, expressed his gratitude to Minister Kemayah for representing his government at the TICAD-8.

He assured that the bilateral note will be submitted to the Government of Japan for consideration.

The Japan Foreign Minister then welcomed the idea of the establishment of the Japan-Liberia Joint Commission, and the holding of Technical Roundtable Meetings of high-level officials from both countries.
