Ministry of Education clarifies…..

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Ministry of Education has clarified that the winners of the recent Presidential Teacher Awards met all criteria laid down by the National Teachers Award Committee.

Criticisms from some sectors of the public were specifically directed at the Best Teacher Award, Ms. Precious Teeweh, shortly after the August 24 program.

However, appearing on ELBC Super Morning Show on Monday, August 29, 2022, the Chairperson of the Award Committee, Dr. Cecelia Cassel, said:” Ms. Teeweh applied and met all the requirements to emerge as winner.”

Dr. Cassel said:” Though there were other qualified and experienced teachers equally deserving of the award, they did not take advantage of the application process.”

According to her, the Committee was made of credible people, who would do nothing to ruin their integrity and reputations.

Also speaking, the Focal Person of the National Teachers Award Committee, Dr. Charles Gborlie, said:” A rigorous desk review in line with international standard was done on all applicants.”
