Movement for Economic Empowerment grants Executive Clemency to former members

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The opposition Movement for Economic Empowerment (MOVEE), has granted executive clemency to its former National Secretary General, Robert Sammie, and all members who left the party.

The Party’s National Executive Committee took the decision at an emergency meeting held over the weekend.

MOVEE’S Deputy National Secretary, Jeremiah Paye, stated that the decision was taken in the spirit of reconciliation.

He said:” The move is also triggered by the Party’s desire to harness the expertise and support of all former partisans willing to return ahead of the 2023 elections.”

Former National Secretary General Sammie was expelled for allegedly inserting the names of some Executive members in a purported release, expressing disagreement over the Party’s decision to join the Rainbow Alliance.

Sources from the Party have told ELBC that Mr. Sammie will contest the Chairmanship of the Party at the pending convention in September, this year.
