Let’s train and discipline our children-Pres. Weah

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The increase of drug and other harmful substances by some young people in Montserrado County District-Six has been brought to the attention of President George Weah.

Such concern was brought to President Weah during the presentation of a petition by the District Youth Chairman, John Dolo at Wednesday’s, August 17, 2023, citizens engagement in the SKD Community.

Mr. Dolo named the King Gray, Nagbe Town, Baptist Seminary and LBS Communities as areas where those drugs are being peddled.

He appealed to President Weah to intervene in curbing the situation, and ensure the passage of the new drug law at the Legislature.

Also speaking, the Women Chair of District-Six, Caroline Caranda, reemphasized the security implication caused by the prevalence of drugs in the area.

Madam Caranda stated that women are terrorized during the night and early morning hours to and from work or the market.

She also implored President Weah to ensure the passage of all bills geared towards women empowerment.

Responding to various comments made during the meeting, President Weah blamed some parents of doing little in training to become productive citizens.

President Weah said:” Some parents care less about their children, and as such, they are left disadvantaged in the streets.”

He said every citizen becomes productive based on the kind of training and discipline they get from home.

Reacting to request for the construction of a resource center, the Liberian Leader promised that the center will be built as requested by the young people of the District.

He also promised the expansion of electricity to all parts of the District, under the Government-EU Partnership Electrification Project.

Meanwhile, President Weah has called for patience as Government begins addressing those concerns that emanated from the discussion.
